Israel, among the ten most competitive countries in the world in ICT
A total of six countries of the European Union (EU) are among the ten most competitive in the world in the field of information technology and communication technology (ICT), according to a study released today by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) , the principal trade association worldwide.
The United States remained in first place worldwide, followed by Finland, Singapore, Sweden, United Kingdom, Denmark, Ireland, Australia, Holland and Israel.
Spain is ranked 24 and moves up one step from the last study, conducted in 2009.
The 2011 edition of the index of competitiveness in the industry of information technology is the fourth since its inception in 2007.
Lists 66 countries around the world as a series of indicators covering areas critical to innovation in the field of ICT business climate, infrastructure, human capital, research and development (R & D), the legal means and public support to this industry.
According to the report this year, countries that are traditionally stronger in the ICT maintain their leadership positions because of the "solid foundation" that have developed through years of investment in innovation, so they are collecting their off.
Instead, the study shows that more and more countries, especially developing economies, which are committed to innovation and strive to meet the standards of the leading countries.
"It is clear that investment in the foundation of technology innovation pays huge dividends in the long term," he said in a statement BSA President Robert Holleyman.
